Steam update adds library management options and Xbox controller configuration

Two weeks ago Valve released a beta update to the Steam client. They've added configuration support for Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers, along with any generic controllers as well. That feature is now available to everyone! PlayStation 4 controllers support has been added last month. From now on you can connect and use virtually any console gamepad with Steam. "Note that because X-Input currently lacks per-controller means of unique identification, all controllers of that type will share personalization and configuration settings," Valve says. "As they share the same inputs, Xbox 360/One/Generic controllers will all see each-others configurations when browsing. Automatic conversion will be attempted when loading configurations from other controller types." But that's not all, they've also added rumble support for Xbox controllers and recognition of more third-party PS4 gamepads, such as: HORI, Madcatz, and Armor pads and flight sticks. Beyond controller support, the latest Steam client fixes several issues, including one that could cause the client to hang when the computer wakes from sleep mode. Valve also added overlay support for new Windows 10 Insider preview builds and showed some love for Linux with updates and bug fixes. Additionally if you right-click on a game in your library, you'll also…

Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t come out on PC?

It seems that Rockstar Games decided to release Red Dead Redemption 2 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 first, it isn't all that weird considering they have a history of doing that. The problem is that they might skip PC at all just like they did with Red Dead Redemption back in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 years. Sign the petition at change.org and maybe Rockstar is going to listen. Petitions never worked though, so I guess we can at least show there are a lot of us who want the game out on PC. Watch the trailer below: I don't know about you guys but if they are going to release it on consoles only I'm gonna have to buy one with the game and sell as I complete it.

SteamVR Performance Test measures your system’s power

Hey guys, I have no idea if you are following the latest virtual reality boom around the world but I honestly think that's just a gimmick like PlayStation Move controllers, Xbox Kinect and Wii sport/move games. Everyone knows they are on the market but no one really plays them more than once ;) Anyway you can now check if your system is VR ready or not. It checks your GPU, CPU using the SteamVR Performance test. The SteamVR Performance Test measures your system’s rendering power using a 2-minute sequence from Valve’s Aperture Robot Repair VR demo. After collecting the data it determines whether your system is capable of running VR content at 90fps and whether VR content can tune the visual fidelity up to the recommended level. For machines that are not VR Ready the tool can help determine whether capabilities are bound by Graphics Card, CPU, or both. You obviously need a Steam account to install this. HTC recently announced that their VR system is going to be available for pre-order on…

E3: Amazing experience for the first time ever! WTF

That was sarcasm indeed. Are you watching the E3 right now? Have you seen Xbox and EA conference? Microsoft didn't show anything good (a Halo remake? really? that's it? no PC love?), EA had some good moments with Sims 4, the new Dragon Age and possibly another Mass Effect game - skipping all that sport games, not into that. And by the way why the fuck are the guys on SPIKE TV talking about every single title like it's a 10/10 game before it even went out. I hate it that those hosts on the E3 show are all about to orgasm from the amount of "amazing" games they're showing. I know it's money but come on!!! But seriously Battlefield Hardline looks like another copy of Battlefield in some concrete crappy city with shiny streets and shit. Oh and speaking of street new Criterion Games title looks awesome! Now waiting for Ubisoft. Will give another crappy report. Poll Time: Did you play GTA V yet?

I was just wondering did you guys play GTA V yet? How is it? I’ve got no console on me right now so it’s hard to play the game especially when Rockstar decided there won’t be PC version yet. New Xbox to be announced at May event?

Microsoft may be announcing the new Xbox in May. According to The Verge, Microsoft is planning to hold an Xbox event on May 21 to announce its next console, and will unveil the device at the E3 in June. The tech blog cites "sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans". The next Xbox may be based on Windows 8, The Verge reports. There are no other details on what the console might feature or possible prices. Microsoft's competitors have already announced or released next-generation consoles. Nintendo released the Wii U -- successor to the Wii -- in the fall of 2012. Sony announced the PlayStation 4 console on Feb. 20, but has yet to release a sale date, or even show what the console looks like. The Xbox 360 has consistently been the most popular console in the United States, for about 25 consecutive months. The device originally went on sale in November 2005 and retailed for about $300 to $400. New Xbox might have a smiliar price tag depending on different editions of the device and subscription costs. We Want Live – Microsoft will launch XboX Live in Central Europe!

It finally happened. After weeks of waiting for Microsoft’s appearance on this year’s E3 event they announced that this fall Central Europe will get their XboX Live support (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece). You will be able to migrate from your current non-your-country XboX Live account (if you have any) to your current location. We would like to thank the creators of We Want Live action – thanks to them console gaming will be getting bigger after this summer, hopefully the prices for new XboX 360 games will drop too ;-) Oh and thanks for listening Microsoft. Now, since the action is finally over we are taking off the banner for We Want Live from our page but we will never forget what you did for the gamers around the globe. By the way, not only Central Europe gets XboX Live support, the following countries are included as well: Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Republic of South Africa. They also announced this little thing:

International Consumer Day

It was a good day yesterday. On March 15th whole Europe was celebrating the International Consumer Day. People from We Want Live managed to contact Polish Federation of Consumers. And according to them Microsoft is selling a broken/missing product on the Polish market and the Polish XboX 360 users can easily get their money back by returning their consoles to the shop. And there is a chance that you will be able to do the same…with XboX 360 games that don’t have working multiplayer features. We Want Live members gathered over 100 different things that is being treated as proof  by the Federation. It’s mostly scans and pictures of user manuals of the console (which encourage people to create an XboX Live account and plug their console to the Internet). Will Microsoft finally say something about it? Even though they did respond in few sentences earlier, some sort of longer and more official message should be announced in the media.

We Want Live – about to receive an answer? (THEY DID!)

There’s a hope for Polish XboX Live and Games For Windows Live. As far as I know the creators of WWL are about to receive an official statement from Microsoft head quarters in USA. Too bad Microsoft waited a month to do this… We will post more details here as soon as we know something. UPDATE: Here’s an official Microsoft statement about XboX Live sevice in Poland: Xbox is very committed to the Polish market and is appreciative of the passion and excitement that our community of users show for our products, including Xbox LIVE. This year, 2010,  is going to be a historic year for Xbox and our aim is to bring to our Polish community of users the full and best interactive experiences possible on the Xbox 360. We currently finalizing our plans for the Polish market that we will become public at the forthcoming E3 consumer trade show, later in June.  Our Polish community of Xbox users should expect to hear more about how we will take the Xbox 360 experience to another level in Poland. They didn’t even bother to sign the freaking letter (no one knows who wrote this, it just says Microsoft). I say…

The Clock Is Ticking

Microsoft has exactly 27 days, 6 hours, 14 minutes and 34 seconds while I write this. 27 days for what you say? Well you probably heard about We Want Live group. They sent a letter to Microsoft and gave them 30 days to respond to their demands for the XboX Live service in Poland (Games For Windows Live too I guess). If your country doesn’t have Live too simply go to their website and see what you can do for you country! Will Microsoft have the balls to answer? We will find out soon.

Microsoft has 30 days to answer Polish players

Microsoft encouraged Polish players to buy original games (without multiplayer support and Live features) and stop modding their consoles. XboX players who are responsible for the revolt-ish website contacted Microsoft Poland and... Here’s what the kontrakcja.pl site owner posted on their site (translated freely by me): “We’re after talking to Microsoft Poland. (…) We live, we are well and continue to attack! It turns out (which was already a little known, but now we know for 100%), Microsoft Poland has nothing to say on the presence of the Live in Poland. Well ok, since they do not someone else decides, and now to that "someone" will turn. How do we do it? First of all - along with Microsoft Poland. They promised to help players find the right contact! In few days we’ll put a set of materials directed to the people actually responsible for the Live and it’s absence and screwing players. For the first time, we the players will create a raport. From the moment we pass the materials concerning Live absence in Poland to Microsoft, they will have 30 days to respond. Exactly after the 30 days we will see if Microsoft’s Poland word is worth anything,…

Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition with co-op mode

The Ultimate Edition of Zeno Clash was ported from Orange Box engine to the Left 4 Dead-ish engine and it should be working a little bit smoother on the XboX 360. Unfortunately the Source engine is limiting the Ace Team in making the PlayStation 3 version possible. The game is going to have a cooperative mode, a bunch of new attack moves, enemies and weapons. The very well known Tower Challenge mode from the Steam version of the game is going to have a 2 player mode so it should be a little more interesting. Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition is scheduled to come out on XboX Live Arcade in March 2010.

Microsoft sells partially functional games in Poland

Some really interesting stuff is going on in Poland right now, Microsoft started a really weird action in which they promote the original games for XboX 360…but XboX Live service (and Games For Windows Live) doesn’t work in Poland which is absurd because Polish gamers pay for their games the same amounts of money like any other nations do. Few people didn’t like the whole action so they made their own action, read about it below – written by Kuba Pilecki:

We would like to inform you about our action, that started recently due to the statement of Polish department of Microsoft, responsible for promotion of Xbox 360 in Poland.

We have started a project called “Nie sprzedaję wybrakowanego produktu – nie kradnę (I don’t sell partially functional product – I don’t steal from my customers)”, which was a reaction to an action started by Polish Microsoft. Our project was originally meant to be an answer to the action organized by Polish department of Microsoft, which was against hard-modding of the consoles and the piracy. Because one of the representatives of Microsoft advised, that the main reason for a LIVE subscription being unavailable in Poland is due to a piracy, we’ve decided to react. Now we are planning to start an international project called “We want LIVE”.

As the users of the original versions of the games for Xbox 360 console, we didn’t like the fact, that somebody was insinuating that because Polish gamers use illegal software, there will be no LIVE available for us. We do not agree with suggestions, that that is the case. We do not believe that the Polish gamers are responsible for lack of LIVE in Poland. We think, that after few years of waiting for the start of that service in our country, after dozens of promises
saying “wait one more month” – the time we’ve given is over. And that’s mostly thanks to the words of Mr Kuba Mirski.
