Normally you'd have to start each download manually, but now you can select as many games in your library as you like, then right-click and select "install." That will open an "install—multiple games" window. Nice!
Yesterday's Steam client beta update introduced some minor tweaks to in-home streaming, a new library section for Big Picture mode and the ability to preload games to any folder rather than the Steam default. Nice!
One of the latest betas has enabled multiple device sign-ins. You are now able to do everything on your account on multiple machines except launching a game - which brings up the following dialog:
Want to stream games from your desktop PC to a living room PC while sitting on a couch? Now you can! Remember this is still a beta though so don’t expect wonders. Valve has improved Steam in-home, here’s the latest changelog: Added an intro dialog the first time you start streaming a game Show a dialog if the game needs cloud sync resolution before starting Improved D3D asynchronous capture performance…
I always loved Insurgency (a Source engine modification available on Steam) and they’ve just released new content to their game on Steam. Check out the release notes:
This new update for Insurgency will expand upon the experience we delivered in January, with several new game modes, two new maps, an expanded arsenal, and much more. One of the biggest overhauls is with our cooperative mode Checkpoint. Since the version you all have been playing, we have practically re-written the AI code from scratch. The new AI are much more intelligent, and Checkpoint is as immersive and challenging as it’s ever been.
We have been keeping our ears to the ground when it comes to issues people have had with our release, both from a stability and gameplay standpoint. We have addressed much of the instability and crashing issues which plagued certain people. If you continue to have these issues, please let us know and we will work diligently until they are resolved.
You can now cancel pre-orders without having to open a support ticket - just so long as the game hasn't been released yet. Now, as the image above shows, you can initiate this process yourself with the newly added, and seemingly automated, 'Refund an item' link. It's not clear yet whether you'll be refunded in Steam wallet credit or whether the money will go back to your card. And here’s…
Valve just announced a new cool upcoming feature. The Steam Family Sharing will allow you to share your Steam games with others on up to 10 different computers. That means, people will be able to play your games while using their own Steam accounts, on your local or a different computer. That sounds much like the Family Sharing program announced for the Xbox One before Microsoft went 180°.
Steam Early Access titles allow the community to get involved early and play select titles during their development. The goal of Early Access is to provide gamers with the chance to "go behind the scenes" and experience the development cycle firsthand and, more importantly, have a chance to interact with the developers by providing them feedback while the title is still being created. To support the interaction between Early Access…
I loved this game on the PS3, if you’re a metal-head and a Jack Black fan you should really buy this asap. The game is fun, with rich humor and many stars like Ozzy or Lemmy. Seriously if you wanna have fun GTA-style and laugh at stupid jokes or charge the enemy with head bashing metal-heads buy this now. Fuck the price differences, just get it, it’s worth it! However…
Gabe commented on Steam's approval process: Steam is a "dictatorship" and that has to change. At a candid talk at the University of Texas recently, Newell outlined his vision of where Steam is going: doing away with the approval process, converting Steam into a network API that any developer can call, transferring ownership of its "boring" storefront to its users and, surprisingly, killing off the "Greenlight" crowd-voted approval process introduced…
Check this out, Steam is having a free weekend right now for Chivalry Medieval Warfare, you can install the game by clicking here. Click on the image below to buy the game for 9€.
Everyone who’s using the Steam mobile app for Android already knows that Steam was capable of keeping the chat history on the device (or servers actually). People also wondered why the fuck isn’t this built-in in the desktop Steam client. Well since yesterday it is! You can now close those annoying chat windows you have and re-open them later just to read the message someone sent 5 seconds ago. You…
There is a rumor from people connected with Valve Software that the Winter Sale is going to be protected from farmers - remember the coal farming last year? New Steam accounts that haven’t purchased any game with a credit card, PayPal or any other payment method this year (adding a CD-Key on your Steam account does not count as a purchase!) will not be able to participate in the Winter…
Valve is fighting scammers? On December 12th, Steam Trading will require that your account has had Steam Guard enabled for at least 15 days before you can trade items. Anyone else exicted about winter sale? How about winter lottery on Steam Unpowered? :-)
According to the Secret of the Magic Crystals developer Valve is having two sales soon, first one Autumn (nov 21-27) and second one traditionally Winter (Dec 20-Jan 4). Additionally the CEO of this crazy game came up with the idea to set the price at $1.99 and try to generate a total sale of 50.000+ copies. I hope he does remember about the 1€ ≠ $1 ≠ £1 thing. Cheers!
Here’s another Poll Time post. This time we’re asking you about the new Pre-Purchase Rewards option that showed up with Tomb Raider’s pre-purchase offer on Steam. It looks like they took that from Kick Starter (at least I didn’t see any of these promos on large scale before Kick Starter). Here’s the question: [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent="yes" overflow="visible"][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type="1_1" background_position="left top" background_color="" border_size="" border_color="" border_style="solid" spacing="yes" background_image="" background_repeat="no-repeat" padding="" margin_top="0px" margin_bottom="0px" class=""…
Valve is looking for Linux gamers to install and test their new Steam for Linux client. They are, however, primarily interested in experienced Linux users. Get access to the beta now!
Steam Greenlight has been updated today, adding the ability for developers to post non-gaming software for consideration by the Community. Software in Steam Greenlight will work just like games, where Valve is looking to the community to provide data on what they would like to see made available via Steam. Launched on August 30, Greenlight allows developers and publishers to post information and media about their game or application in…
Steam finally launched their software distribution section. There are a couple of interesting postitions on Steam right now including: ArtRage Studio Pro, CameraBag 2, GameMaker: Studio, 3D-Coat, 3D Mark Vantage and 3D Mark 11 and of course Valve’s free Source Filmmaker. Some of these use Steam Cloud and Steam Workshop which is pretty cool I guess. Lets hope software developers won’t start releasing their software on Steam only, I personally…
“For those who are unaware, users that signed up for the Steam service in its early days are forced to login with the email address that they signed up with many years ago. For a lot of us, that means we're signing in with an email address that no longer has relevance and is potentially no longer used. While this isn't the contact email address tied to the account, it…
