I’m really having a hard time finding a game I could buy during the Steam Summer Sale of 2016. I love action RPGs but Grim Dawn looks like it’s not entirely there, I think it needs more polishing after seeing some friends play. Other action RPG titles on Steam don’t seem to be that good. COOP games are taken care of but what else is there?

One thing I miss the most from the old days of gaming (late 90’s) are RTS games like Dune, Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, Cossacks, Tzar and other similar titles (basically clones) like Age of Mythology (now on sale on Steam actually, the remake of it), Rise of Nations or Empire Earth.
I can’t understand why Microsoft haven’t created Age of Empires 4 considering they’ve even advertised it on AOE 3 retail box. I would instantly buy it, but Microsoft’s failed attempts at anything lately (Windows 10 forced updates, Windows 10 Mobile death before it even started, lack of nice PC exclusive games – Quantom Broken anyone?) I really don’t expect much from that company.
There are rumors that they might announce Age of Empires 4 on Gamescom conference in Germany on 18 – 21 day of August. They are about to introduce mouse and keyboard support to Xbox One (funny, right?) and this might be the right time to do it!
Remember the E3 trailer of Command & Conquer Generals 2? They have canceled it unfortunately… too bad it looked promissing on Frostbite 2 engine (used in recent Battlefield games).
However, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of nice RTS titles on Steam and it would be nice to check them out asap. Here is the list of the most interesting RTS titles I could find on this year’s Steam Summer Sale!
Age of Mythology Extended Edition €5.59
Just an Age of Empires clone with mythology. It’s pretty solid and it’s a HD remake.
8-bit Armies €12.74
This is like a baby of Minecraft and early Red Alert games. Look very promising, has coop campaign, single player campaign, skirmish and multiplayer.
Age of Empires Legacy Bundle €8.24
Includes AOE 2 with all add-ons and complete edition of AOE 3.
Company of Heroes Franchise Edition €20.49
Awesome World War II RTS. Hands down.
Ashes of Singularity €19.99
This is a Sci-Fi RTS from the makers of Sins of a Solar Empire. I loved that game but if it’s like Starcraft it’s not really my kind of thing.
I hope you found this short list helpful. Cossacks 3 is coming really soon and as soon as I get my hands on a copy I will be posting about that game on here. Long live RTS games! :D
