Dollar is back! WTF?

I’ve received few e-mails from random people that dollar is back, you just need to add something to your cart (still shows euros there!), then fill out all the data and go to the last step.

I did it with COD4 (and I live in Poland), and see this:

I did not use any proxy or anything.
Notice that the price is WITH VAT INCLUDED but it doesn’t show how much $ VAT actually costs you.

What the hell!? Why AFTER the Holiday Sale?

ME worked fine for me, the retail being cracked, that is. Is this a steam-only bug or something?

1: The Steam version doesn’t have Securom. That’s why I bought it there. :) (I could’ve gotten ME cheaply ages ago in retail, but didn’t because of securom)
2: I’ve played for a couple of hours now with no crashes. And I’m an optimist, I’m going to assume they fix any issues that might make the game unplayable. :)

Huh maybe, didn’t really check by myself, just read it there :p.

Btw, don’t buy mass effect. It’s a really good game, true, but it’s got a bug which prevents you from playing. It’s called the general protection fault, happens after a little amount of time spent playing (sometimes it won’t even let you launch the game), and the devs don’t give a sh- about the problem, even though there’ve been a lot of complains about it on the forum… Basically, it crashes the game and doesn’t let you launch it until you reboot your computer, and it occurs after about 10 mns… Furthermore, it has securom on it. :S

Hukka: Mass Effect was $38 for me, which fits with the US price of $30 plus 25% VAT. So that at least seemed fair. So I don’t see a “random conversion rate”. Are you sure it’s not just VAT confusing people because it’s now included in the dollar price?

However, I just checked, and now everything (I checked L4D and ME) seems to be back to Euro prices… Guess they caught the error. I wonder if I get to keep ME then… :D

Attention people, according to nofrag.com (french website), we still get fucked! (not by as much as before, but still..)

Here is a little graph resuming L4D prices during the last month: http://nofrag.com/images/003f79.gif

(From left to right: “When we used to pay in $” -> “After the euro conversion” -> “Sale” -> “Today: Random conversion rate”)

As far as I can figure out, the new dollar prices still include VAT. Not everyone seems to get the same VAT prices. Someone else posted on the Steam forum with a Mass Effect price that was 3 dollars lower than what I got. So it seems like they’re back to US prices, and simply add in (country-specific) VAT on the final “confirm” page?

Anyway, I decided that $38 including VAT was a good deal on Mass Effect, so I bought it, and got a receipt saying €38 instead!
The email receipt says $38 however.

I’ve contacted Steam support to find out how much I actually paid for it.
