Dollar is back! WTF?

I’ve received few e-mails from random people that dollar is back, you just need to add something to your cart (still shows euros there!), then fill out all the data and go to the last step.

I did it with COD4 (and I live in Poland), and see this:

I did not use any proxy or anything.
Notice that the price is WITH VAT INCLUDED but it doesn’t show how much $ VAT actually costs you.

What the hell!? Why AFTER the Holiday Sale?

    thnks stranded but what is the price with vat?

    had this been implemented before or during the sale I would have bought a lot more games on steam. now I only bought games with sale of 50% or more due to the shitty pricing

    I just purchased World of Goo and it was like sir9 in post #19 said. Steam shows €19.99 EUR and says that VAT is included and then in the checkout window it says $19.99 USD + 19% VAT = $23.79 USD and that’s the amount my paypal account was charged for (€17,64 EUR, 1 Euro = 1,34863 US-Dollar at time of purchase).

    Same way here in Estonia. Mass Effect costs with VAT $35.39. My guess is that the new pricing is for countries, who don’t use euro as main currency (but can still be in EU).

    To Stranded: i tried after all comments and got a finalized price first in Dollars and after bought in Euros BUT the confirmation of buy from Steam was in Dollars! I tried on World of Goo and i have the receipt in Dollars instead of euros. I would like to show you a screen but i didn’t understood how to do that from my answer..:con

    So i confirm what to seems to be a bug works!

    nb : France => nothing happened, prices are still in euros, still 1$=1€.

    Maybe they are trying to let people outside euro zone buy in dollars (afraid of EU Com ? :D), but they won’t do anything for people in euro-countries. And they seem to have difficulties to find out which countries use euro, they should read the Eurozone wikipedia article :|

    Happened to me too. I bought a source multiplayer pack. It said 29.99 euro but when i received the receipt it was in dollars. O.o?

    I can confirm that the old dollar prices are used at the checkout although the store still shows the “new” euro prices (I live in the Netherlands). It looks more like a bug to me.
    I started purchasing “World of Goo”. In the store it is listed as 19,99€ (19% VAT included). In the shopping cart it is still 19,99€. But after filling in the payment info you see the “old” dollar prices. In this case $19.99 + 19% VAT = $23.79 And that is what you actually pay!
    Weerd!
    I didn’t actually made the purchase so I don’t have a receipt.

    Valve, what are you doing! Just after the holiday sale ended! This is crap.

    I have no idea, maybe it’s connected to Norway somehow, that it is not in the European Union.

    But again, someone from Switzerland e-mailed me (also not in EU) and he said that he bought Left 4 Dead in dollars.
