Quick look at MOTHERGUNSHIP!

I was so curious about this game! It looked like a really nice mix of fast & old school shooter like DOOM, Quake and Unreal series and something similar to Hard Reset – which had loads of robots and all that. MOTHERGUNSHIP is out now from Czech studio Grip Digital and it’s fucking amazing! Read more below to know why.

Simple and fun!

The game looks simple at first, you start using your fists only, left and right click (or left/right trigger if you’re on gamepad / console) to throw some punches. Then you grab your first modules for guns, modules because every single weapon can be attached in a different way. This is pretty cool because you can change your fighting style as you progress through the levels. Check out some screenshots below to see how the game looks like:

When it comes to the plot line I don’t think it matters at all in this title since it’s just a run and gun game but don’t get me wrong, it’s still loads of fun and really reminds me of DOOM mixed with really old game series Descent for some reason. Maybe it’s the atmosphere?

Performance and options

Performance is pretty snappy, runs at 60 FPS on my old GTX 960 on 1080p so the game is not demanding at all which is good because you need at least those 60 frames per second to fully enjoy the fighting scenes in this one. By the way it’s Unreal Engine 4 so you can customize pretty much every single graphic option there is (check screenshots above to see the options menu)!

Cooperative mode and some details

If you’re a coop gamer like me you will be really happy because this game is going to receive a free DLC in around a month with additional coop mode.

Game highlights are:

  • very own personalized arsenal of destruction
  • the most modular gun-crafting systems ever seen in a videogame
  • brutal, non-stop combat where thinking on your feet is the only way to survive
  • hordes of alien machines, deadly traps, and intimidating bosses
  • full CO-OP experience (coming in one month!)

MOTHERGUNSHIP is now available digitally on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $24.99 / €24,99 / £19,99. You can grab it pretty much everywhere right now! Check out the launch trailer right here on YouTube.

Windows 10 Game Mode coming later this week

The brand new Windows 10 Creators Update is just around the corner. It will have some special gaming features, and it’s nearly ready to roll-out.

There will be a new insider build (so it is not stable) in the upcoming week and it’s going to have the mysterious “Game Mode” on it! The improvement won’t be fully functional until later releases, but Microsoft has at last shed some light on what it is: it’ll fine-tune your PC to speed up gaming performance by disabling some background processes (in both Win 32 and UWP games).

Both PC and Xbox One will receive Xbox Live upgrades that help you connect to friends on social networks (is anyone even using that on the PC?), a more social-friendly Activity Feed, better tools for Clubs and looking-for-group posts, and the option to start your own Arena tournaments in games like Killer Instinct and World of Tanks.

Sounds nice and lets hope it won’t have much problems on the release day. Windows 10 Creators Update is coming out in March 2017.

Ubisoft: For Honor closed beta starts on January 26th

Ubisoft has finally revealed that the closed beta for For Honor will begin on January 26th, and run until the 29th.

The game comes out on Valentine’s Day 2017, so the closed beta will only have a two week period between the time it ends and the launch day. Check out the trailer below:

Steam Store: Discovery Update 2.0 is now live!

The Steam store has been updated today. It has a lot of new functional settings and finally looks better! I bet most of you guys won’t be able to switch to the new UI just yet, but lets all agree we needed a change after all these years.

steam-store-update

The new update is called Discovery Update 2.0 – the next milestone of the Discovery Update released in 20014. Valve did a lot of good work on this one. The new design reduces the number of clicks you need to do in case you want to find something. The old store was a mess. Especially with all of those Early Access Titles on the main page, you can finally hide them!

Valve is now enforcing real screenshots in the store for each game – not some Photoshop bullshit ones.

Here are the highlights of the update!

Quick Access:

More direct links to common destinations. Plus, sections you probably didn’t even know we had.

Personalize (FINALLY!):

Now in the upper-right corner of every game image you will find a quick menu of options including quick access to your Preferences, allowing you to further customize your Steam shopping experience.

Recently Viewed:

Quickly get back to products you’ve been browsing.

Friends Activity:

Whether it’s a hot new release, joining a special event, or getting back into a game that was recently updated, now it’s easy to tell what your friends are excited about.

Expanded Curators:

If you are following Steam curators, we’ve added a clickable preview of their latest reviews and recommendations.

More of the good stuff:

  • there is a top sellers list based on country now
  • the translations have been updated
  • Steam now notifies you if a game from your wishlist is on sale
  • the review system has been updated too

More new features listed here.

Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t come out on PC?

It seems that Rockstar Games decided to release Red Dead Redemption 2 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 first, it isn’t all that weird considering they have a history of doing that. The problem is that they might skip PC at all just like they did with Red Dead Redemption back in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 years.

1920

Sign the petition at change.org and maybe Rockstar is going to listen. Petitions never worked though, so I guess we can at least show there are a lot of us who want the game out on PC.

Watch the trailer below:

I don’t know about you guys but if they are going to release it on consoles only I’m gonna have to buy one with the game and sell as I complete it.

Steam: Mobile app update coming in early 2017

According to various media around the globe Valve Software is currently working on it’s Steam mobile app. It appears that in early 2017 you will be able to watch streams of some sort of video materials on your mobile device – documentaries, tutorials, full length movies and even TV shows.

steam-mobile-app-video

Steam video library keeps on expanding, over the last few months they have added a lot of videos to the library, although it’s limited by region it’s still pretty impressive.

Would you be using Steam instead of services like Netflix or HBO?

Microsoft will use Steam to sell Windows games

I think they have finally realized that selling games on their own, buggy, slow and unpopular Windows Store is a really bad idea. They have changed their mind and said that they will be selling their PC games on Steam, maybe including those titles that have Xbox Play Anywhere (buy once on console, play on PC too) thing?

Gears of War 4

Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox team at Microsoft, was talking on GameSpot stream during the E3. He said:

“I don’t think Valve’s hurt by not having Microsoft’s first-party games in their store right now. They’re doing incredibly well.”

Accordingly, Spencer said that Microsoft:

“Microsoft will ship games on Steam again.”

I don’t know about you guys but I would be more than happy to play Gears of War 4 in coop with friends on Steam! The employee did not say which games would be sold on Steam, nor when they would appear.

Bethesda to release it’s own launcher to sell mods?

Apparently there is an alpha version of a launcher for Bethesda games. It has Fallout 4 creation kit and even a Mods tab at the top. Check out some screenshots:

Do we really need another game launcher aside from Steam, Origin, UPlay, Battle.net, GOG (optional)? They really want to sell those mods, we all know how it turned out last time they pushed it on Steam

What do you think about the new Bethesda launcher?

CS:GO available for pre-order, unfair prices!

csgo

You can now pre-order Counter Strike Global Offensive. With this being the the first Valve-release in more than a year, Valve have decided to continue using their stupid tier-system in which they have randomly divided Europe into two tiers + the UK. The game is quite cheap, being a new release and all. This is especially true for the USA and parts of Europe.

Steam Greenlight announced!

Steam Greenlight
Valve’s approval process have long been subject to criticism, claiming it is very hard for indie developers to get their games released on Steam. Today valve announced the release of Steam Greenlight. It is scheduled for release August 30 (keep in mind though, that this is Valve-time, so the release date will likely be some time later).

This will allow publishers to post information, videos and screenshots from games. The public can then give feedback, and vote on the games they want to be released on Steam. If a game gets enough votes, Valve will release it. This will allow a lot of indie games to circumvent Valve’s approval process. Recently Valve denied the 3DS success “Mutant Mudds” a steam release, and also the hugely successful “Aquaria” was first refused.

Hopefully this new approval system will make it easier for indie developers to get their games out on Steam. In the long run this may lead to more great games to be developed, as it will make it easier to have games published on Steam, which have a large market share when it comes to digitally downloadable games.

Steam: New S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game with cool promo

If you happen to own previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games (Shadow of Chernobyl or Clear Sky) on your Steam account you can get the newest (Call of Pripyat) for 9€ (or 50% less, depends on a Tier).

Simply buy the game and let it check if you have older Chernobyl games on your account, if yes the new one will be working ok.

However, you cannot gift Call of Pripyat with the discounted price to anyone but that’s pretty obvious.
