I don’t know about you guys but I’m getting sick of imaginary boundaries on the Internet. First music with iTunes and all that shit, then YouTube and other streaming services all over the world and now more and more software, games and even smart phone apps are region locked. Even more stupid thing is that now they are trying to lock different region locked products to work in that specific region only. I have no idea why everyone seems to think this is ok but the industry should realize people don’t care and will always find a way to get the cheapest possible solution. It might be hard with Black Ops 2 though…
Here are the main reasons not to buy Call of Duty Black Ops 2 RU:
- The russian version of Black Ops II will be restricted to playing ranked matches with users of the Russian version only. You will not be able to play ranked online matches with users of the “normal” version of the game, only with other users of the Russian version.
- The russian version of Black Ops II will only be able to be launched in Russia.
- Even after activating the product via a Russian VPN the game will not be able to be launched through Steam outside of Russia, this is the first time this has been the case for a Call of Duty game and is a new massive restriction, in theory it means that you will only be able to play then game when using a Russian VPN all the time.
So stay away from Black Ops 2 RU if you don’t want any trouble. Also another Call of Duty game – to me it seems like a bad joke although I really liked Call of Duty 2…
