Blizzard Real ID canceled

According to this forum post by Blizzard employee, Mike Morgaime, the company decided to get rid off the Real ID forum idea out of their heads. Right now the Real ID function will be only available and optional for gamers of World of Warcraft’s latest add-on Cataclysm and upcoming StarCraft 2.

It seems that some companies listen to their community. Too bad Valve doesn’t (when it comes to pricing).

Also to all the people saying: It’s the price the publisher put up.

This is absolute bullshit. If steam tells the publisher, fair prices or the game won’t be on steam, they will do it. Some still won’t, but this is called service. Steam is only in for the self-service, they’d rather have more money than happy customers. As a retailer or e-retailer you shouldn’t only sell all you can, but also offer a service to your customers. Steam offers no refunds, no real technical help and no customer protection. Apart from some cool things Valve does for the PC community ( TF2, HL, CS ) they treat their customers like shit.

They listened because american people were also affected by this. If it only affected europe it would’ve gone through and our opinion would just be ignored. Just like what happens with Valve.

European union does nothing because they earn tax money, so they are happy with it. The only way you can change things is with backroom politics or bribes, which is happening all the time. Just look at all those copyright companies bribing ministers so they can ignore our rights and privacy. Valve ignores, EU ignores, customer ignorant, sad times.

I agree on Activision though, their prices on Steam have always been a rip-off and they don’t even have their own Digital Distribution. Maybe Valve can convince them to lower their prices?

EA wants to protect their EA store, not much Valve can do about that.

Yes, but only for Valve or indie releases. Look at EA titles. Horrible pricing.

I think Valve has listened to the community, the prices are a lot better than they were a year ago. And many of the recent deals were great value.

Also, it’s not ‘VALVe their pricing’, it’s the prices that either Steam, or the publishers put up.

Oh, please flame me for taking up that sentence in a wrong way. Please, go on. Hell guys, I made a mistake: I thought there was actually something wrong with them, apart from having the $ =/= € thing. Like, no prices for Europe, 100 euros for a game, something like that.

@Wesley: Were you born yesterday? Or maybe on another planet? :) You ask what’s wrong with velve’s pricing? So what is this site (SteamUnpowered) about?

    EU: 49.99€ ($63.37 / £41.71)
    US: $19.99 (15.76€ / £13.15)
    UK: £29.99 ($45.56 / 35.94€)

Fortunately some prices are better in EU (http://www.steamprices.com/eu/topsavings) :)

And so on. Anyway you will find everything about it in About section in upper menu
