Steam: Torchlight pre-purchase available

Right now you can pre-purchase this RPG game on Steam. The designer team is composed of lots of designers, project leads of Diablo, Diablo II, Mythos and Fate. So that sounds pretty good, let’s butcher the prices :)

Torchlight

torchlight

US: $19.99 $17.99

UK: £14.99 £13.49 (23% higher than US)

EU: 15.99€ 14.39€ (19% higher than US)

So all things considered, I guess it’s not that bad, but still, it’s overpriced.

Game Key Features:

  • Randomization – Our level layouts are randomly created, so each adventure is unique. Monsters, treasures, puzzles, and items are also different each time you embark on an adventure
  • Easy, approachable interface – Torchlight is designed to be easy to play right from the beginning. The intuitive interface gives players easy access to a rich and varied world
  • Retirement System – Once characters are sufficiently leveled up, they can “retire” and bestow specific benefits and perks to new characters
  • Pets – Players will choose a pet to accompany them. Pets can level up along with the player, and will help in battle, carry items, and perform a variety of helpful services
  • Character Classes – Players will create and customize a character from one of three classes available, and choose an animal companion. Through cosmetic choices, skill path decisions, and the treasures they acquire, each character will be custom-tailored and different
  • Fishing – Players can take a break from the high-energy pace of adventuring to visit one of the fishing holes and relax and see what they can catch. Fish have interesting benefits for the player and pet, and other rewards can also be discovered
  • Included Editor – Runic Games is embracing our modding community by including an editor so our players can create and design their own content

    Developer sells it for $19.99 = ~ 12,65€

    From Runic Games forums:

The reason for the slight increase over a 1-1 cost comparison for European cash is that there’s a VATS tax for those transactions that gets folded in. At least I think that’s what it’s called. I’m mildly delirious.

My bad for the not correct information above. Steam does the almost right currency convertion and then add the VAT so the price is fair (as fair as VAT can be…). The other things I said however are still valid.

I would discourage to purchase it on Steam. You can buy it on the official site with the same benefit and paying 20$ like it should be. Also all the money would go to the developer instead of the 60% they get from steam (that also has a rised price for EU even with the 10% off).

Developer had to put it on steam to have more visibility but they need 2 steam user to get the same money they get from a normal user. Probably many of you found out about this game because it’s on the steam news, but now you know that you can also pay the right and help the developer. Think about it.

Looks cool! Graphics is like cartoonish, like Borderlands and Silverfall. Also it reminds me World of Warcraft..

Damn, why there are no pretty-girls wallpaper?

I think that the game is good enough to buy to spend the time while waiting for Diablo 3 :D

And look, they have thought of EU people too, not so hard but still.
