Steam for Android: Disable unwanted push notifications

Hi guys! The Steam sale is pretty good as you all probably know by now, but there’s one really annoying thing I just noticed.

If you’re using the Android version of Steam app you probably noticed that the app just launched itself few minutes ago and spammed the notification bar with Steam summer sale details. It would all be nice if I would actually want it to but who the hell allowed the app to do that by default? Seriously.

Here’s a short guide on how to disable the notifications:

1. Go to Menu > Settings

2. Steam Preferences

3. Deselect the notifications.

Did you run the application BEFORE it asked you?

Might be your phone – I was asked if I wanted to allow it (Galaxy Nexus).
