Dead Island – wrong build released on Steam

PC players who purchased the game on Steam are playing a very different game than Deep Silver wanted you to even see — a dev build of the game. With a game this large and this anticipated, you can bet that when it was finally released early this morning, people fired it up as soon as it was ready, then found some glaring problems, like no-clipping, a bad port of the game, and just general shenanigans.

Well leave it up to the internet to, in record time, find out that the version released on Steam is in fact a dev build of the game, a build that they use to find glitches, exploits and bugs, so they don’t show up in the final build. But when you go and release this build, you aren’t doing a very good job of that. In the code, they found some very interesting lines that point to this being a possible port of the Xbox 360 version, which won’t make PC gamers happy.

I bought and played this game for few hours and i can tell you that this game is awesome. It has its bugs, and the graphic is not crysis-like, but it’s still very beatiful and it has really low hardware requirements. If it is a console port, it is a very good one! Gameplay is fun, and killing infected with your friends feels awesome :)

Not that it’s of any significance to this topic, but Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is on sale, and the price is actually better than fair: $10.20 / 6.80€ ($10.20 = 7.46€). But it’s only for Hot Pursuit though. Shift follows the usual pattern ($=€) and Undercover / Shift 2 Unleashed are even worse…a lot worse. I just thought you might wanna let people know.

I wouldn’t say unknown, Call of Juarez series were very successful. Also the game is not that bad..there’s a huge amount of quests on the island to complete. And cool melee weapons.

Actually, I expected DI to be a failure. If an unknown dev is going to release an over hyped and overpriced release better hold your horses with that pre-order.
