If you ever wanted to become a ninja warrior you will love this title. I guess this game is suppose to develop your reflexes and it does that pretty well. The game has 5 different game modes – we can surely call them mini games. Some of them are really fun at the beginning of the game but become really frustrating later in the game.
The game is based on belt system, after completing each mini game you will receive a new belt – as far as I remember I got the brown one and couldn’t finish the game because it was too damn hard – but it was hell of a fun. Now lets describe the mini games I mentioned above.
The first mini game is called Shurkien. This is pretty simple, you can imagine it’s a different version of darts, just aim at the reticule on your enemies as they pop up from different places on the map, then quickly swing with your mouse to shoot them – faster you do that gives you better scores further in the game.
The second mini game is probably the best mini game, it’s called Hashi and your task is to catch flies in direct order or colors. There’s usually one task called Superfly in each level in which you have to catch only one fly and believe me it’s just insane how fast it moves!
The next one is Koi, all you see is a Gordon Freeman hand – the Steam version of Ninja Reflex has a lot of Valve easter eggs in it – over a pond with some really good looking fishes. As fishies swim by you gotta track them in the water and quickly catch them when they surface. This could be really frustrating further in the game – for example you need to catch a fish that’s fast enough to disappear in front of your eyes. Sometimes you’ll have to catch a fish in 30ms which is next to impossible.
The Katana is the most violent game mode in the game. You need to fend off your enemies by swinging your mouse in many directions, you can as well block their attack moves but in most cases you need to block and then fend them off. It’s pretty fun later in the game.
Hotaru is one of the best mini games in Ninja Reflex. Action takes place at night and your task is fairly easy in the beginning – you need to catch fireflies as they appear. Further in the game this one also gets a little harder to achieve especially when your master tells you to grab specific color. You don’t aim in this mini game, you just need to click fast enough.
And the last one – probably the hardest one – Nunchaku. Your master simply throws weird stuff at you and you have to hit it with your nunchaku, sometimes he throws crates, sometimes fruits (watermelons explode!) and stuff like that. For example one of your tasks will be hitting a lemon only while the master throws like 10 other things at you. Playing this mini game is kind of difficult because you need to move your mouse like it’s on the infinity symbol and click in the right moment.
There’s also one more thing in the game called Meditation, you can launch a meditation session for like 5 or 10 minutes and then listen to the directions of your master – you should definitely try that, it could help you relax after you see the prices on Steam ;)
The Journal is just the game LOG, you achieved this and that etc.

Now more about the interface, it’s pretty basic, options are limited to minimum – you can’t control the volume at all in the game which is a pretty bad thing. You can’t play in windowed mode as well which could be useful sometimes. The game ALT+Tabs-out perfectly from desktop though so you can get back to game in one second.
There are no key bindings in the game, you play using your mouse only.
The game has a multiplayer mode but unfortunately it’s not online/LAN, you can only play with your friend(s) who’s sitting next to you which isn’t all that great but still could be really fun though.
The game has 52 Steam achievements (see them here) and most of them are really fun to earn.
Summing up this game has a lot to offer, if you are a Peggle Extreme fan or just a casual gamer you can just buy this and have fun but if you’re easily frustrated with anything just think about buying this game twice ;D
