Valve’s dislike of the PS3 isn’t exactly a secret and because of that Randy Pitchford, the President of Gearbox (the developers of Borderlands), felt the need to speak up in Sony’s defense. In a recent interview with the U.K.’s Official PlayStation Magazine, Pitchford said:
I noticed something on the net not too long ago. Doug Lombardi (Valve’s VP Marketing) had to take a swipe at the PS3 again, and I thought it was foolish. I read it the same way I read fanboys. Like there’s a guy who bought the Sony platform and he’s a Sony guy, so he decides he’s going to spend a certain percentage of his time bashing Microsoft. And there’s a guy on Microsoft doing the same thing. Those guys are childish and narrow minded, it’s the same kind of thing.
Pitchford went on to suggest that Valve is a selfish developer:
Valve think their own stuff is the only stuff that matters, to the point where they have their own distribution platform. It’s like, I don’t care about retail, about Marketplace, or PSN, I’m going to have Steam. It’s cool, it’s good, and they’re doing a good job but at the same time they’re reliant on the rest of the world. They had to do that [Left 4 Dead] deal with EA. When I see the L4D ad on the television I don’t see a Valve logo, I see an EA logo, and when I bought it, I bought it at a store.
This guy raises some good points. What do you think? Is Pitchford on the money, or does Valve have every right to decide what platforms to develop for?

This guy certainly has a point, but you know that song of Michal Jackson’s.. where he sings “I’m starting with the man in the mirror”.. Borderlands probably one of the most p2p downloaded and played online games this year! in EU released 4days after appearing in NA and at torrent trackers.. hmm.. btw Valve became bullshit throwing company when they started releasing HL2 Episodes… EA has nothing to do with l4d yet appering at tv commercials is full of shit.. that PS3 has like 2 quality games and nobody else but sony fanboys play it is a cruel reality of the japanese bullcrap machine.. Valve should release games for it .. NOT.. for those retarded fucks who bought PS3 by accident.. I say FUCK those retarded “nextgen” consoles to hell.. they are only slowing down the evolution of game industry anyways!

Only a few days after Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford made comments about how Valve’s stubbornness about PS3 development is only an excuse, it seems like Valve’s answer to my question of whether they would prove either Randy or HipHopGamer right seems to sadly be the former answer.
CVG recently conducted an interview with Left 4 Dead project lead Chet Faliszek, press here and he made a comment that no one should ever make in the game industry about ANY community of gamers. This was aimed at the PS3 gamers, insulting them yet again by saying, “In hooking up with your friends and the community aspects, I think the Xbox 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3. The 360 and PC are on par, right?”, and that Left 4 Dead 2 will be exclusive for that reason alone.
I was watching this historical video about Valve: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gxFaGKHbEY
and there is said (if I got it right) that Valve founders were once Microsoft employees. So could it be, that Microsoft brainwashed those guys and now they are fighting against all Microsoft competitors.
So if now they say that PS3 is for fags and Xbox rules. Remember those huge fines, what European Comission imposed as penalty to Microsoft.

I may sound paranoid, but I see here a connection. Is Valve really taking revenge on EU behalf of Microsoft? And because we exist and are active?
And now this Playstation stuff. As Japanese started to whine (here?) about DragonAge restriction, so now they took move against Japan by blacken Playstation.
So, what the hell is going on? Can we solve this peacefully?
It’s a game of the powerful men. We customers only pay for their joy.
slay, this is not about microsoft, dont get too paranoid. They left that company years ago and didn’t come back to it for good reasons.
Doug and Gabe founded Valve and made HL1, Chet Faliszek joined the team years later and does NOT represent Valve.
Chet is just a “writer”, in fact he’s the guy behind “old man murray” ( => http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/766.html ) and got hired because he used to be honest and frank, not bullshitting visitors in his game reviews.
Now just look at Crash Course, or even the 4 default campaign of L4D1, and use that review system : http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/39.html
Time have passed…
He ended up at Valve doing some writing/project managing stuff.
Chet Faliszek already made similar comments about TF2 idlers and L4D1 boycotters, he doesn’t have any respect for people not agreeing with him, I think he’s the worst PR guy at Valve.
He does NOT understand the concept of “game as a service”, he thinks his job in Valve make him a god telling the truth.
Don’t listen to that moron, he’s the cancer killing Valve.
(nb : I could use much more shocking words about him but I decided to keep it civil here)
About EU, if you followed Valve attempt to adapt its system, it seems they
do not understand what “Europe” is at all : countries not in euro zone paying in euro, many errors in the price “tiers”, etc…
In my opinion, the $1 = 1€ thing came from EA Games, and Steam obeyed.
