Hey guys,

I had an incredible run-in with Steam Support last week and thought I just HAVE to share this, for its sheer amount of… well… actually rather for it's sheer LACK of being helpful in any way.

Quick backstory: I bought Saints Row 2 ages ago and only recently tried to play it since a friend from the US wanted to co-op and well, the game is broken as fuck. And since I got the German (even more butchered) version, you can't install the Gentlemen of the Row patch or anything. Also the shop page said the game is multilanguage, but it isn't. So my friend decided he should just gift me the game, since it was only $7, but alas. Steam said I already own it.

I bought Bioshock a year or two ago and there was no indication about the language issue, either. They added the "German-only" note after my request and even replaced the game with an international version for me, after I got and provided them an US key. (and refunded the price of the German one, which I didn't even ask for)

So here I was hoping something similar could be done here. They'd just have to remove the game from my account, so my friend could gift it to me again. I have a working game, my friend can co-op with me and they get an extra sale for a game they sold before. Everyone wins, right?

WRONG

Part 1

Part 2

I especially like how the last answer took him 2 1/2 days.

Is this awesome? (Y/N)

Yeah, I still want to complain about this guy.

I mean… is that really how you should treat a customer who's probably already spent close to 1000 Euros on his account?

It's like the EA chat support…. 90% of them are dumb, so you simply have to try about 10 times before you get a normal person :)

And if you are unlucky as me…. let's say 20 times :D

==.=="

they helped you out replacing Bioshock … does not mean they have to do it for you with Saints Row 2

hey… they ain't even the same publisher…

its not their job…

You are not suppose to get the US version in the first place.

(if you have the physical US version of Saints Row 2…thats a different story.)

BUT trying to use gifting to bypass region restriction, is not allow.

*You can… does not mean its right thing to do.

*Steam can/and does remove games that are not in the correct region, especially when you account shows that you actively repeatedly violating TOS/License agreement.

The same goes to Russian version of games.
Due to price differences or just avoiding low violence version… doesn't matter… its the same thing.

You violated TOS/License agreement

And in your case… you are "trying to" violate TOS of Steam gifting… ==.=="
Its funny that you actually ask support to help you violate their TOS.

Try to reach them by phone, or ask for a superior, or something.

You caught an asshole out from the support guys.

@Jack: That is bs. He *should* get support. What did he get? Answers? Nope.

Stock messages? Hell, yeah.
