Yes, most of you will lose it if you bought the game in other place than Steam or authorized retail stores. So if you bought your Modern Warfare 2 key of OnlineKeyStore or something similar (maybe G2Play?) you will lose your game from the Steam games list and you will never get it back!

Here’s a link to Steam Powered forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1031758

And here’s BurtonJ’s response:

Mu6o: why opening this thread after a month.. you will not lose your games, this post was about of Modern Warfare 2 key bans and the issue is already resolved.. thing was that most of the keys from G2Play were from the Asian market(where the retail game is ~$20) and Activision didn't like those keys appearing in Europe and America in huge quantities

Astaco: are you of fanboy of that guy or what.. everybody is trying to sell their product with the highest price. the fact that there are tens of percents of difference in prices around the globe was the reason for this site to be founded..

Are you nuts? Insulting me as a fanboy although I pretty much haven't said anything?
People were complaining that they lost the game after they bought it form G2Play!
I just linked BurtonJ's post, because he says that they are not a legitimate dealer.

And therefore: You will most likely lose the game, right (valve's opinion)?

Edit: By the way, do you have any information that the key issue has been resolved?

It was never about being legitimate, it's about selling keys that were meant to be sold in Asia or other parts of the world where games are around 80% cheaper.

What's wrong with activating this kind of game in other country? You still buy a legitimate game and there are not such things like regional restrictions – well they banned those keys and taken away the games but people who bought them on the cdkey sites either got new keys and they work now or got refunds and guess what they did next? They bought another keys in other stores, and that's because games are fucking 60€ and no one with some sanity in their heads is going to buy a game for 60€.

Are people buying cdkeys pirates, cheaters, bad people? No! They still want to buy even when they could torrent the shit out of it (from what I've heard the game works cracked online).

Those prices are fucking too high and people who run these things should recheck their brains before they set prices so high.
