Just had to come over and rant on the steam forums ban I got…
I went on to the forums to check out a thread I had started fro a multiplayer game on EU 3, and found out I had got banned at some point. Dunno when as I havent visited the site in ages.
The reason was, and listen to this,
"Admitting to piracy like that and adding that smilie will get you banned."
:/
That was the official message I got from them.. Now let me explain..
Admitting to piracy, I have no idea what that was about, as I first of all havent got a single pirated game copy on my pc.. Not one. Secondly, I have never said that I have any pirated copies of games on my pc.. Third, I have just bought an assload of games off of steam, as I got money, adn wanted things to do on my holiday, and this is the thanks I get I guess, fucking numbnuts.
It's like a stupid ass police force out there; They LOOK for people to BAN.
They don't look for people who need to be banned, like racists, trolls, etc, but people who are just basic humans going on about their lives and not hurting anyone, accidentally saying something that somehow contradicts their rules, and they ban them. Thats not the way its supposed to be, is it? I hate it when the police are looking fro trouble, when no trouble really is, and I hate it in this situation as well.
I started thinking, where did they get this idea? And I thought of an opinion I have, that I might have posted somewhere on steam forums.
I was talking to a friend of mine about being screwed by game makers for the last time. I bought empire total war, and it was completely unfixable and fucked.
I tried the demo, which is made for people to know what the game is like. The demo was bugged out and it was about 0.07 percent of the game itself, and also, they said anything wrong with the demo will be fixed for the game. I had liked the earlier games so thought it would be as good, at least as functional as the older ones. I was wrong. The game was totally unplayable.
If demos are bugged etc, adn not representing the game, but just giving a small insight on what it's like, then they are pretty pointless, as if the game is totally bugged out, how can one know, except by waiting of course, but even reviews of empire were so great, that I had no doubt it would be an ok game at least. So I bought it.
I'm really not for piracy, unless you really have no money on you, and your parents hate you adn wont give you anything, then sure, download your game and be happy, enjoy your life, and pay for games to your kids when you have any.
And also, my main point; There is nothing wrong with downloading a game from the internet to see what it's like. I have downloaded many games as torrents. Well, not many, about 5 or something… And here's how I justify it to myself, and if game makers get angry of my logic, it jsut shows me how fucking retarded they are wanting to cash on broken games knowingly.
I downloaded Rome Total War, as I had never heard of it, and wanted to see what it was like. So I played it for a while, kept on playing it, loved it, and went out and bought it. I bought the expansions to it as well, as it was great. And I went on to buying Medieval ": Total War without downloading, and finally I bougth Empire without trying it out first (except for demo which they said wasn't finished), and wasted 50 bucks on it, with no possibility for refunds. I dont play it anymore, and havent played it in a long while. They never fixed it, they made a new one, which I didnt buy, adn now theyre makig a new one, which I'm not going to buy.
I downloaded… Cant remember its name, Dead Space I think? I downloaded it as I'm not really into games like that and the stores were closed, so I wanted to try it out. I played it for a few hours, spooked my girl friend with it once, adn then never played it again. It was installed on my pc for a few weeksas I forgot it there, but eventually I deleted it, and the installation files, as it really wasnt my cup of tea, and I didnt care how it ended, adn didnt care about finishing it, and didnt care about giving osmeone money for something I didnt like after only a few hours of testing it.
I have been dissapointed a few times buying somehting without testing it first, and if you buy a car you can take the real thing out and test drive it, and not that you can see someone trying it, or you can watcha video of osmeone trying it, or trusting the makers when they say its a cool thing and you want it. I want to make up my own mind. THe demos arent good enough ni most games, as they jsut give you a fraction of what the game is about. If you dont like the demo too much, you know you dont want to buy it, but when you try the Empire demo for example, you can just imagine what the real finished game will be like, and I trusted them to release a good game, which they didnt. I wouldve known it if I would have downloaded the first, and then bought it.
This is a tough subject to really be right about, but I think I'm righteous in my actions, and I always thrive to be, the best as possible.
For example, when couple of underaged kids are sitting and having a few beers with their mates enjoying their youth etc, the cops make them into criminals, poor their 2 beers on the ground and scream at them for being terrible people and threats to cosociety, when every laywer, doctor, and fucking rocket scientist has had a few beers underaged at some point of their lives, even the cops. Can they do this? Yes they can. Is it productive, nice, or necessary? Not in a million years.
With all these broken games out and about these days, I support piracy in my manner 100%, and it doesnt make ame a criminal, it makes game makers criminals and they should be called out on their fucking absurdities.
I also downloaded Hearts of Iron 3, and I made the mistake of buying it trusting a previous release, and not testing it properly, or reading reviews. I've yet to have a problem with it, but the reviews have pointed out so many flaws with it I'm annoyed I bought it now, but that was my mistake. Buying a game when reviews make it seems good, and trusting previous releases and demo really isn't. ONe can't be perfect, we all make mistakes, and I'm starting to feel buying a game is a mistake in itself.
I, as an honorable and justice seeking man, promote pirace 100% to ensure that what you buy is not a load of crock. Download a game, play it for a few days, even weeks, and if you really like the game, go and give the makers some money for it, but never trust them to make a good game after the first one, all games should be treated as individual, seperate matters, and you will have less stress and heart ache over spending money on assholes who dont deserve it.
I'm not as anoyed my hearts of iron, as it still has hope to be fixed, and I liked EU 3 enough to give them money for their cheap games, as they are a small company.
