Beat Hazard - Pricing + Dev Fail

Hello,

I am kinda pissed about the behaviour about the developer of Beat Hazard called "Starg".
He made different prices for Beat Hazard for US and EU and EU is more expensive. Okay I must say it's only about an Euro and I would even pay 10€ for the Ultra Addon, because it's really great.

What pisses me is the way the developer behaves.

I asked nicely why he did this different pricing, just a small reason, nothing spectacular. But after a few days still nothing. So I sent him a PM and ask friendly if he could please answer to the threads because there are quite a few people that want to know why that is. And all that happened was that 1 day after my PM he closed the thread and thats it. No answer, no nothing.

This was the original Post:

Germany: 4.04 € = 5.713368 US-Dollar
USA: US$ 4.49 = 3.1749399 Euro

So… ?
I, as a really big fan, feel a bit jarateed.
I mean ok 4€ ain't much but still. It's not the small ammount I pay more it's just the principle and nothing more.

Sorry for pushing, but this is a matter I won't leave dying.
It's NOT meant offensive in any way, just for the trolls.
I will buy it and I even wouldn't have a problem with paying 5€, it's just the principle why do germans need to pay about 1€ more

After closing this thread I did this thread:

Hello,

okay this thread will be deleted/closed in no-time but I just want to say, that one thing from Starg was extremly lame: http://forums.steampowered.com…..st23022281

Instead of putting in some small answer, all he did was "Closing" the thread where I just asked what his intentions have been to set a higher price for europeans. I ALSO said that it's not because the price since I'd even pay more for the Ultra Addon, it's just the principle.

But just closing the thread confirms something I didn't want to see. So, I am out. Will still buy ultra but after that quit out for everything from "Cold Beam Games". Didn't think he'd kick his fans from europe in the face.

Farewell.

This thread was deleted after not even 3 Minutes!
Link was: http://forums.steampowered.com…..st23045256

Thus I ask for help on this one.
Please open up a thread in the Steam "Beat Hazard" Forums and ask for the reason of the different prices. Show Starg that players are people that have brains and want knowledge. If you do so, please be friendly and give him no reason to delete the thread. So be gentle, don't use swearwords.

thanks for anyone that helps and PLEASE! do screenshot your thread and post it here.

Kind Regards

i understand your issues and especially on steam, there is a lot of unfair pricing.

But I think you forgot a little thing there:

The USD price is with tax excluded, so its not exactely 1€ you pay more, you probably would have to pay only 20-40 cents more if you pay in euro currency. (and because exchange rates vary every few hours its hard to keep up a "fair" price)

The real issue starts with games priced 20€ and up because those pricedifferences go from 5 to 20 euros

I never payed extra taxes on steam when I had buy something over the USA.

And as stated it is not about the amount of difference it is about even having one.

If it would be just the tax, Starg would have posted a fix statement about the tax, but that is not the point.

It's something different and Starg does not have an open answer he wants to tell.

Either he really thinks that his customers are blind or dumb and will not notice or care about a few cents or I am missing a real thing but anything else wouldn't make any sense in closing that question or deleting all threads about that topic.

I know 3 people that did a thread and asked too about the price difference and all threads have been deleted too in less than 10 minutes. It is a real shame, in my eyes

In the US, it depends on where you live – some states do not charge taxes (i think oregon is one of these) for internetshops, others do (washington for example).
Steam sets one price for all america and even there, depending on where you live you either pay a higher amount of $ due to higher taxes in your state, or a lower amount of it. I am assuming that you are living in europe (germany probably?) and used a proxy to access the american steam store. When entering an adress for your purchase you probably went lucky and entered an adress that has no tax on internet goods.

You clearly not get my point. the exchange rates of $/€ is ever-changing. you would have to update steam every few hours with a new set of prices for all games because the dollar just got 1cent worth more than one hour ago… that doesnt work out so well if you think about it. And because this DLC has a fair pricing for the most part, only the exchange rates and different taxes bring an "unfair" pricing for certain states.

What happened at the forums I can't comment on as i did not witness it and don't know wether this is true or not (I'm not saying you are lying). Multiple posts/threads get locked/deleted easily and that is probably why the ones of your friends were closed. Why he did not answer on your post – I don't know why. But it is not his duty and frankly, as a moderator of this forum he has pretty much all rights there because you agreed to the steam forum rules. Frankly, steamunpowered knows about this issue and it is not new… reminder: Looks like 1€=1$ afterall

I do know what you mean but you do not need to pay tax on steam. And no I am not buyign over proxies. Either I use people that live in the USA or when I am there by myself do access Steam there to buy stuff.

This simply is wrong! unless you are buying from oregon or one of the other few countries in america that have no tax on steam products/(internet products in general!) then you have to pay tax on top of the displayed price!

Either the people you use who are in the us live in one of these countries or fake their adress on one of these. Otherwise you have to pay tax.

In the US, any pricetag you see has tax excluded. Only when you checkout of the store, the tax gets added and you see the "real" price you have to pay. And that price should be used so we can actually see that for beat hazard ultra you only pay a few cents more and, as i said, the everchanging exchangerate between € and $ is causing this little gap.

In the end you should accept that beat hazard ultra is fair priced. There are alot of other games that are priced horrible, you should take it in consideration to mention those other games on the steam forums and not moan about beat hazard.
