I saw G2Play is selling Risen CD-Keys.
That made me curious because as far I know Risen does not require or ask for an CD KEY.
So far I have checked following version of Risen or CD-Key checks; German Retail, German Collectors Edition, Steam Version, Multi5 Version (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian).

Non of this versions come with a CD-Key nor does need one.

I am asking myself how G2Play can sell CD-Keys for a game does not have one? The game comes without CD-Key there is non printed on the manual. During installation the game does not ask for a CD-Key and there is no multiplayer. In fact the game never goes online.

Maybe the key for GRID and Risen are needed for some sort of download client/service?

You buy the key and then legally download the game using some site. Simple.

I contacted them per Email and asked for what the CD-Key is for.
Their answer:

"I don't know which version you have, but we have Keys for Risen and already sold some."

Well I for certain I know the PC German Retail, German Collectors, and Multi5 Language European Retail sold in UK and Italy does not have a CD-Key. As protection it only use a simple DVD-Check. I bought myself the Multi5 European Retail from an Austrian Shop and received it today.

I also asked my friends and I can confirm that neither the Avenger CloneCD or the Platinum CloneCD does ask for a CD-Key.

There is a third Russian version out, maybe this version requires a key.
I bought a couple of games for EADM from G2Play and never had a problem but never drop your guard.
