Actually as a cdkey owner site I see fault of securefox.YOu should have used your own paypal or used ur friends paypal address to register as well as buy using it.We also ask for scan ID cards in order to prevent myself from frauds. If there werent fraudsters we would havent developed the habit of asking id cards. Most of the scammers dont reply when asked for id scard and later on we see a unatuhorized transaction in paypal.Noone wants to loose money in online business.
My fault? Yeah right.
How about clearly stating that ID card scans are required, BEFORE the customers buy a game, like a professional and honest business would?
Same for not accepting another email used on PayPal.
But I guess beeing honest costs money, as a lot of people would NOT buy if they knew the truth.
I agree that all shops including G2Play should notify their customers of possible ID-Checks before processing the order.
In fact, I noticed that couple of shops exactly do this, and this should be the standard.
It is legitimate for a shop owner to protect himself from fraud as for a customer.
It's not OK when a shop suddenly surprise you afterwards with an identity verification request. In such a case I completely understands if a customer refuse, and ask for a refund instead. It should be giving immediately without delay. If shop can't do it, then the shop shouldn't have accepted the order in the first place. It's the shop owners fault then.
It's fair when a shop do an identity check, but please notify the customer of this before you accept their order.
Any shop doesn't notify their customers of possible ID-checks before placing an order, are trying to bully them into a transaction. Causing a uncomfortable situation where the shop already has the money but customer nothing. I consider this a mean trick and bad business practice.
To Securefox I have to say; I feel your pain and it's terrible you had to go through all this. I'm glad your friend got his money back, and thank you for posting this here. It showed how bad the situation with some shops is right now.
Also I have to say that you and your friend did huge mistake by creating an account within G2Play which use your credentials abut your friends PayPal account.
If I were a shop owner and a customer use an PayPal account, that use an different Email than with what he registered, it would immediately raise a red flag.
It looks like you stole someone Paypal account. Seriously the shop owner can't tell if you "borrowed" the account from a friend, or stole it.
It's the same process as paying with a credit card/debit card at a local retail shop. You cannot sign the invoice with a different signature than what is written on the credit cards back. The store cleric couldn't tell if you "borrowed" the card or stole it. He would immediately refuse to proceed the transaction. He may even call the police, because it's a violation of terms maybe even laws.
And the same goes to all the online retail shipping shops like Play.com, 365game.co.uk including Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de
Every shop has the rule that the first order you make go to billing address that is registered to the credit card or PayPal. No other address are allowed first time to avoid fraud. Only on following orders they allow an different address if at all.

I'm currently working on a new "Steam Alternative list" for sometime now, and this incident shows I must accelerate my efforts. Me and Stranded are quite unhappy how it is right now.
That we mix CD-Key shops with real alternatives like Impulse and even throw in retail shippers like 365.games is bad. Because all 3 system work different. You can't compare them
There was the thought to remove all CD-Key shops from the list, but after a talk we realizie that these shops are for some people the only real alternatives they have. Because of unfair pricing in local retail shops, or region restrictions in Steam and EADM. So we kept them.
The new "Steam Alternative list" will be split into 3 separate list.
One for real "Steam alternatives" only for digital distribution system like Impulse, GamersGate, D2Drive or GoG.
One list for cheap online retail shipping shops like Game.co.uk, Play.com, CD-WOW.com etc, and one list for CD-Key shops.
I think (but I have to talk with stranded about this before) on the CD-Key Shop list we put only shops that fulfill certain standards.
One requirement will be, if a shop do identification checks the shop must clearly and visibility inform the customer before payment is processed. No surprises anymore. No one like surprises when doing business. Also I consider a shop cannot be put on the list if they advertise with instant delivery 24/7 when there is no one to process the order after certain hours.
I think this will help the users of this website and potential customers to identify the shops that can be trusted, and separate them from CD-Key shops that are run like a fence dealer.
Everyone could benefit from this. The customers from saver transaction, and trusted shops from increased numbers of customers. The only ones that will lose are the lazy and the fakers.
What you think of that guys?
I ask you guys what kind of requirements a a shop should fulfill to be put on the "Approved/Trusted CD-Key Shop List" ?
We do this for you, so tell us what you want and what you think about it. That includes the shop owners as well.
The alternative is we completely remove CD-Key shops from the list, and maybe limit discussion to the forums but unmoderated.
