One of our users left a comment in the Steam Alternatives section about this store. We just browsed it and it looks very legit. And this seems like a good alternative to Steam.
Here’s a little more about the store:
Game Key Shop is a company which is specialized in delivering retail CDKeys to PC gamers. Just like you, we didn’t like the high prices retail shops charge. It’s because of this that we decided to start selling CDKeys as cheap as possible whilst staying within legal boundries.
We are not 100% sure if this store is credible so please watch out and we are not responsible if anything bad happens. If you came across this store and you know it’s bad please contact us or leave a comment.
And now the specifics (move your mouse over the images to see the price):

Good prices, eh? :)
Update: our announcement on the group kind of killed their website I guess…lol

NOTE: STEAM UNPOWERED IS NOT CONNECTED IN ANY WAY WITH THIS OR ANY OTHER CDKEY STORE OR DIGITAL STORE, WE ARE JUST PROVIDING THE BEST STEAM ALTERNATIVES FOUND ON THE INTERNET. IF YOU THINK WE ARE ADVERTISING OUR OWN BUSSINESS GO DIE IN HELL AND LEAVE THIS GROUP/WEBSITE.

D2 CDKey Shop, 4.5 out of 5 based on 8 ratings
Steam unpowered is so popular it’s killed their site :)
Which reminds me, I bought Dawn of War 2 in some CD-key shop, registered and that game mysteriously disappeared from my Steam account like after one or two weeks. I don’t recommend using CD-key shops…
hi, i tried to buy dawn of war 2 there. i payed via paypal, and never received a key. after emailing with the guy he just delayed and delayed and in the end never answered. even an official paypal investigation didn’t help and i lost my money.
DON’T BUY THERE!
Hm, I hoped some other games like Silent Hill 5 were in it. It’s not released on steam in my regionö.
Well thanks for telling us this mario and Kurt Kokain. Like we said earlier we are NOT SURE if this store is legit or not. Please be careful.
It’s under BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK in the Steam Alternatives page.
bought dawn of war 2 key, i’ve recived it instantly
@mario: are you sure that you had enough money on the account at this time? maybe spam him with mails :P
My experiences with cd key shops (namely G2Play.com) were always positive.
I bought Diablo 2+LOD and never had a case of someone else connected with my cd key (in response to claims they double sell cd keys) and I also bought some Valve games which are also on my accounts and never had problems with them. They even sent me cd key again when I asked them (I accidentally deleted it after activation) because I wanted to have it just in case.
About this other shop, I can’t say. I didn’t know about it until now.
I have tested this shop with one buy (Football Manager 2009), everything was quick, but they send me cd-key in completely wrong format – inapplicable.
I have send them email, but I thing I just lost my 12$ yesterday.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS SHOP.
Stick with G2Play.com – no problems with them so far.
Doing a quick Google, I found this discussion on some forum…it’s about the cd key shop at hand. Shop’s owner is also posting there as HyPeR-X.

And I also found another forum with a member mentioning this shop.

This shop has it’s info on site (address and phone number) which is a strong indication of a legit site. And it also says it is registered with a Dutch chamber of commerce.
edit: it’s ‘www.g2play.net’ – of course
Bought a Left 4 Dead and Warhammer : Dawn of War II CDKey here, works fine.
Mario have you actually read their Frequently Asked Questions and used a valid E-mail on both paypal and the website? My CDKeys were automaticly delivered to my paypal E-mail address.
crap.. even though its only $14 .. i wont risk buying tales of valor :(
So after short email conversation they send me Fm2009 as Steam gift (because the key they send me was really incorrect). I have changed my mind, it’s good shop after all :)
Nice shop but why the heck don’t they provide an installation client? Both STALKERS are really well priced.
@ Bogdan
Because it’s a cd key shop. They sell cd keys, they don’t have to provide you with game client (it would probably cost them a lot to host all those clients on site). You can download that on your own. There are plenty of clients for any given game around. Just use torrent, or download them via hosting sites. I’m sure publisher wouldn’t mind since you already bought the game. :)
I don’t think it’s compeltely legal and if it is then I still need a crack or something for the game to work even if I have a correct cd key unless the game’s only protection is a serial number.
No, you need a crack if you want to play without disc in drive.
And most of people that buy retail these days use cracks anyway, because they don’t want to put cds in drive everytime they want to play a game.
Cracks are usually referred to as “no cd fixed exe”, meaning use it if you want to play without disc in drive. Do keep in mind that using crack, or no-cd, does not give you access to online features of the game, only original cd key does (which you can buy in this shop duh).
Some copy protections prevent legit user from playing the game even though they have original cd in drive o.O so they have to use crack no matter what (if they want to play their game) and put those discs on a shelf because they don’t have any use of it (except to use original cd key of course).
Let me say that again: if a game is only protected by a SERIAL NUMBER, then you can download it from torrents, let’s say “illegally”, then apply your OWN CD-KEY bought from this site and your copy becomes 100% legit.
BUT, if the game has a DRM like Securom, then it’s no other way to play it but to apply a crack.exe file even if you have your own cd-key and don’t use a key generator. That crack will stop you from being able to patch the game and some other issues can occur. Proove me wrong, pls:D
This shop looks quite like g2play, I think this, g2play and onlinekeyshop has all same owner – which is good (at least for me), because I never had any problems with g2play (only some small, but was solved immediately), also they answered me every email I send them, so can only recommend.
I would be careful accepting keys from Steam gift, as they can easily disappear again. :)
@ Bogdan
No other way to prove you wrong other than to have you download a client which requires a serial key, install it and enter your cd key, patch it and crack it.
Then you can try to play online for yourself.
Crack does nothing except allowing you to play a game without discs in drive.
That’s ALL a crack (no-cd) does. It can’t enable you to play online nor it can disable you from doing the same (given you have the original cd-key).
Online services do not check your .exe file for modifications, but they do check your cd key however.
If you don’t believe me, try for yourself. Download a client for which you bought a game and give it a shot. If you can’t find the links for client, I will help you ;)
add “adytzu” on Steam and let’s talk there.
About cd keys shops, anybody knows what happened to g2play?
found this on a german board

Hi~!,
I bought much game cdkey in http://www.d2cdkeyshop.com
Their scam method is…
1.Sell game cdkey that there is no problem to purchasers first time.
2.If buy in large quantities, mix together and sell wrong cdkey.
3.Refuse if request exchange by refundment or new cdkey.
Be careful.
