According to Jon St. John – an American voice actor who provided the voice for numerous video game characters, most notably Duke Nukem – Valve is currently working on Defense of the Ancients (commonly known as DOTA) game. Here’s his Twitter post:

According to Wikipedia it is true:
“In October 2009, Icefrog was hired by Valve Corporation, leading a team in a project that he has described as "great news for DotA fans" – link.
Here’s an official letter from Gabe Newell! Please read it.
Hello,
Recently, your Steam account was erroneously banned from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
This was our mistake, and I apologize for any frustration or angst it may have caused you.
The problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version. This was caused by a combination of conditions occurring while Steam was updating the disk image of a game. This wasn’t a game-specific mistake. Steam allows us to manage and reverse these erroneous bans (about 12,000 erroneous bans over two weeks).
We have reversed the ban, restoring your access to the game. In addition, we have given you a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 to give as a gift on Steam, plus a free copy for yourself if you didn’t already own the game.
To share your extra copy of Left 4 Dead 2 with a friend, you can ‘Manage Gifts and Guest Passes’ from the ‘Games’ Menu in Steam, or visit this article on the Steam Support site for detailed instructions: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656.
To access your own copy of Left 4 Dead 2, visit your library of games in Steam. If you didn’t already own the game, it will now be listed among your others there, and is available for download immediately.
Regards,
Gabe Newell
President, Valve

Alien Swarm is a game created by Valve – mostly by people who were hired from the mod community.
The game will be absolutely free! You will have to kill thousands of alien scum with your friends in order to complete the game – the game has 4 player co-op. You will be able to unlock a lot of new weapons and loadout configurations.
Along with the game get the complete code base for Alien Swarm that features updates to the Source engine as well as the SDK.
Alien Swarm adds 3rd person camera, depth of field, improved dynamic shadows and a wide variety of gameplay additions to the Source engine.
Make sure you get it as soon as it comes out tomorrow :-)
I think most of Team Fortress 2 players heard about www.tf2items.com, a website in which you can look at anyone’s backpack from the game with items, guns and hats. The creator of the whole system – Drunken F00l – got VAC banned lately after he leaked a way to get…the golden Wrench. That guy claims he found out from someone at Valve (?) how to get the Golden Wrench (the very rare Engineer class item).
Drunken F00l claims that the whole “random drop” system for the Golden item is bullshit and it was designed in a specific way. You just had to know the time in which it will drop and probably know the special blueprints on item crafting.
Anyway you can read the whole conversation between Drunken and some other people here (we hosted this conversation in case it disappears):

You can read more about this whole situation on official Steam forums.
Now lets get to the point, this is a proof that Valve Anti-Cheat system is not (fully) automated at all. As far as we know the user didn’t use any hack in-game to get the Golden Wrench, he used some sort of script to craft an item at specific time to get the special item. Additionally VAC Banned users don’t get their items removed – and he no longer has the Golden Wrench.
You can view the user’s profile by going here http://steamcommunity.com/id/df – leave a comment if you want.
We will keep you informed about the situation.
The Team Fortress 2 Engineer Update continues, building up to its end-of-week release, with the Wrangler.
If you’ve ever wanted manual control for your sentries and a shield to protect them, this is the item for you!
Backstage demo of Portal 2. The game is looking fucking incredible. Source 2?
We had several different informations about Valve’s E3 presence, the developer has today issued a statement confirming the cancellation of Monday’s E3 press conference at the Regal Theater.
The event was suppose to hype Portal 2 related stuff, before being semi-cancelled on 2 June (it was postponed to 2011). This first announcement, however, suggested an E3 ‘surprise’ was being planned in its place, leading to amusing amounts of speculation over what this could be.
On 9 June, Valve grew tired of hearing Half-Life 3 rumors and let us know that the surprise would be Portal 2 information while also confirming that the title’s release schedule had slipped to 2011.
And now? Valve’s Doug Lombardi has circulated an email amongst the press stating "Just a quick note to clarify the Monday Press Event at the Regal Theater is completely cancelled. Please do not head over there expecting to see us."
The developer will still be present on the E3 show floor at the Los Angeles Convention Center, but whether Portal 2 will now be making an appearance in any form is unknown. Given the way this is going, we may just need to wait a couple more days for the whole thing to be back on again.

Valve has delayed the release of Portal 2 until 2011.
The studio suggested it wants to see through a range of improvements on the title before it is published. Half-Life 2 suffered a string of delays before it’s release in 2004, while the first Portal – as Valve reminds – also was hit by delay.
Developers also cooled the rumors surrounding it’s the E3 Expo. Various websites speculated on what Valve would show at E3 after the company announced it was showing up with a ‘surprise’.
Valve declined all info regarding HL2: Episode 3.
Suggestions of what that surprise is has ranged from Half-Life 3, to Half-Life 2 Episode 3, Duke Nukem Forever to a new Source engine or new Source engine itself.
So…what is the E3 surprise?

I can’t believe it myself but if it’s true… Yesterday Valve updated their Valve Software website. New look a lot Mac-like stuff but that’s not it, they posted an image with something very weird which disappeared after few minutes.
Hopefully 4chan users managed to grab a screenshot of it and here it is:
As you can see we got a lot of stuff going on here, first of all 61810 which can be June 18th 2010 (6.18.10). Secondly, look below there’s Source Engine logo but look closer, it says Source 2, then we have EA and T2 logos.
BUT there is more, someone manipulated with the image and here’s what showed up:
That’s right, it’s the Duke. But is it true? I guess we’ll find out on June 18th.

What do you guys think?
