We’re proud to introduce CDKeyPrices a site which has been running for around 5 months now. It is a price comparison website which lists several of the cd-key sites (like G2Play, OnlineKeyStore and others).
We believe a lot of you will find it extremely useful!
The website is here and you can discuss this website on our forum (or even suggest changes to the creator – Mark).

Apple has got the message and has provided a graphics update for OS X Snow Leopard which will go some way towards closing the gap between the two platforms.
“When we launched Steam on Mac OS X back in May, there was a lot of buzz about performance, particularly relative to Windows running on the same machine,” says a statement from Steam bosses.
“While we met our goal of making sure all of our customers had an acceptable gaming experience at launch, we have spent a large chunk of effort in the intervening months working with Apple and their GPU vendors to close the performance gap with Windows.”
Steam reckons a combination of changes to its own code and the latest graphics update available from Apple today removes a variety of software bottlenecks, resulting in significant graphics performance enhancements for Mac gamers.
In addition to low-level implementation changes which have improved performance across the board, Apple has also removed some implementation inefficiencies which allow Steam games to improve visual quality, most notably in the area of GPU occlusion queries.
Since the latest update to 10.6.4, Steam has been able to properly implement ‘occlusion query’ which is a GPU-based mechanism which allows OpenGL to draw convincing lighting effects, particularly when a light source is obscured by in-game objects.
“A given light source may be partly or wholly occluded by other geometry in the scene and we use the occlusion query to determine how occluded it is. The percentage of a given light source’s screen area which is actually visible is used to scale the intensity of an additive glow sprite which is drawn over the frame without any z-buffering,” – Steam developer said.
“We have been able to measure performance improvements with the latest software update, but we are anticipating even more speedups if Apple implements the uniform_buffer_object extension and GLSL 1.3 in a future update. With these additional features, we will be able to sidestep this particular CPU bottleneck, allowing us to win back a bunch of CPU time and, ultimately, performance.”
The gaming community is reporting dramatic performance improvements on iMac (Late 2009 and Mid 2010), Mac mini (Early 2009 and Mid 2010), Mac Pro (Early 2009), MacBook (Early 2009 and Mid 2010) and MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) and MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) models. Older systems are generally already operating at the limits of the hardware, and Valve Software says it’s unlikely that any significant performance improvements can be achieved in the future.
In conclusion, Steam employees said, “We’re very excited about the performance improvements that Apple and the GPU vendors have been able to deliver this summer and we are working with them to further improve performance.”

I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been waiting for this a long time now. Already pre-ordered the game, can’t wait to try the demo. Anyway, here is the PC demo of MAFIA 2!
One more thing, remember that MAFIA 2 is a Steamworks game which means it can be registered on Steam with a CD-KEY, meaning it’s cheaper in most cases as retail box than digital Steam download. For example, my pre-order costed around 28€ (30€ with delivery) – link here. Comparing to Steam price (50€ or 60€ for digital deluxe edition – who needs that anyway?) it’s a lot cheaper. Ok, I gotta get back to work now!

According to Jon St. John – an American voice actor who provided the voice for numerous video game characters, most notably Duke Nukem – Valve is currently working on Defense of the Ancients (commonly known as DOTA) game. Here’s his Twitter post:

According to Wikipedia it is true:
“In October 2009, Icefrog was hired by Valve Corporation, leading a team in a project that he has described as "great news for DotA fans" – link.
Borderlands recently got an update which added Steam achievements and new hardware support. That update also may have laid out, in extreme, spoiler-filled detail, the next downloadable expansion for Borderlands.
The new Borderlands patch featured a folder with details about the future of the game. The next expansion appears to be heavy on Claptraps – the small, funny robots in-game. It turns out that you may be fighting them and cybernetic zombies in the game’s next add-on.
Gearbox forum members found details about the next DLC in the patch files, such as: "Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap" that leads a robot revolution against the Vault hunters. Your task in the next DLC pack is to take down those Claptraps and the re-animated human-Claptrap hybrids. Skag claptraps, Rakk claptraps, Psycho Midget claptraps and dozens of variations on the Claptrap, only way more evil, will be your enemies in the expansion, according to those update files. The DLC appears to span some 21 missions—"9 Main Missions, 12 Side Missions"—and will see plenty of familiar faces return.
If you want to know more spoilers simply visit Gearbox forums and read it. Gearbox didn’t officially confirm the DLC yet.
Gamasutra released a report about women in Activision games. Ex-Activision employees claim that the company is strongly avoiding putting any female characters as game’s main characters. One of the best examples is Black Lotus – a very promising game created by Treyarch. The main character was supposed to be a woman and it turned out that because of this the whole project was canceled to be later resumed as a totally new game (True Crime: Hong Kong) with a male main character. Other Activision workers say that the company has an unofficial „no women” policy just because the titles…don’t sell good enough.
Hmm..lets see, maybe it’s because your games are shitty/too expensive not because of female characters?
Shame on you Activision! You should take an example from BioWare and it’s games, like Mass Effect 2 character Miranda Lawson (played by Yvonne Strahovski – voiceover, movement and everyting else – mostly known from the famous TV show Chuck), maybe she wasn’t really a main character but it’s a good example of how it should be done.
We just found out that Grim Dawn is going to be a Steam game (99,999% sure). What is this game you ask? Grim Dawn is an action role-playing game intended for digital distribution on the PC. It is being developed by veterans of Iron Lore Entertainment, the makers of Titan Quest. Grim Dawn is being built with Crate’s own improved version of the Iron Lore engine and toolset; the same technology used to create Titan Quest. As a spiritual successor, Grim Dawn will attempt to better perfect the magical formula of exploration, character advancement, and loot collection pioneered by Diablo.
We’ve contacted the game designers and here’s what they told us:
We are currently planning to sell the game through Steam and have actually already started the integration. We are also planning to have multiplayer similar to Titan Quest (we will probably allow 4-6 additional players to join a game) –
Crate Entertainment, LLC
You can find out more about the game by going here. You will probably hear more about this title very soon! Oh, and by the way, you can already pre-order the game and participate in alpha and early beta programs and I am pretty sure that after you pre-purchase it, and it will eventually come out on Steam, Crate Entertainement will somehow add the game to your Steam account.

Update: And yes, we did ask about fair pricing around the world (on Steam) but didn’t get any reply yet.
